AP 1/4" Heavy-Duty 13" Hand Riveter – Long-Arm Blind Rivet Tool with Internal Geared Mechanism

The AP Astro Pneumatic 1423 is a 13-inch heavy-duty hand riveter engineered to set blind rivets up to 1/4" (6.4 mm) with a patented internal geared mechanism for extra leverage.

This long-arm riveter is built for jobs where reach and power matter: tight access spaces, thicker materials, and larger-diameter POP blind rivets. Its internal gearing and double compound hinge translate hand force into greater pulling power while a one-piece collet case removes the hassle of readjusting the tool when switching rivet sizes. The 1423 ships with five interchangeable nosepieces to handle common rivet diameters.

How does the 1423 produce more pulling force with less effort?

The 1423 uses a patented internal geared mechanism combined with a double compound hinge to multiply hand force. This mechanical advantage reduces user fatigue while delivering the higher tension needed to set larger blind rivets cleanly.

• Internal geared mechanism increases mechanical advantage for harder pulls
• Double compound hinge and shorter handle optimize leverage in a compact profile
• Designed to work with tougher materials and larger diameter rivets up to 1/4"

Which rivet sizes and nosepieces are included and supported?

AP includes five nosepieces to cover a broad range of standard blind rivet diameters, so you can switch sizes without modifying the tool body. The one-piece collet case simplifies swaps and keeps the tool ready for the next rivet size.

• Included nosepieces: 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", 1/5", and 1/4"
• Supports stainless steel rivets up to 1/4" (6.4 mm)
• One-piece collet case eliminates frequent readjustment when changing sizes

Is the 1423 suitable for tight or hard-to-reach areas?

The 13-inch long-arm design balances reach with compact handling, making it practical for work in confined spaces where standard riveters can't fit. The shorter handle geometry and hinge layout let you apply strong pull force in cramped positions without losing control.

• 13" long reach for deeper access into assemblies and panels
• Compact handle and hinge arrangement for improved maneuverability in tight spots
• Durable construction tolerates shop and field use

How do you maintain and adjust the tool for long life?

Routine care keeps the jaw engagement consistent and prevents premature wear. The 1423 allows adjustable jaw engagement by threading the top hex head outward for tighter grip or inward to open jaws for larger rivets; keeping the jaws clean improves longevity.

• Adjust jaw engagement via the top hex head for a customized grip
• Clean jaws regularly to prevent buildup and ensure smooth operation
• Store with included nosepieces to avoid thread damage and loss

Who is this for? The AP Astro Pneumatic 1423 is aimed at mechanics, metalworkers, fabricators, installers, and DIYers who need a high-leverage hand riveter capable of setting larger blind rivets in tight or recessed locations. It suits shop technicians and field service pros who want a durable, low-maintenance tool that reduces physical effort when working with thicker materials or stainless steel rivets up to 1/4".
