The Autel AutoLink AL519 is a compact, plug-and-play OBD2 code reader that reads/clears check-engine codes, shows live data in text and graphs, and reports I/M readiness for smog checks.
The AL519 is an upgraded handheld scanner designed for standard OBDII vehicles (1996 and newer in the US). It delivers full OBD2 Mode 1–10 support, on-screen DTC lookup, freeze-frame capture, VIN and calibration info retrieval, and basic EVAP and O2 monitor tests — all without requiring a smartphone. Lightweight and battery-powered, it’s built for DIY mechanics, technicians, and anyone who wants to diagnose common engine faults quickly.
The AL519 supports the full set of OBDII functions so it can read generic and manufacturer-specific trouble codes, display live sensor data, and report monitor readiness. It provides freeze-frame snapshots and vehicle identification details that help pinpoint issues and verify ECU information for used-car checks.
When the MIL (check engine light) comes on, the AL519 quickly reads stored codes and suggests likely causes via built-in DTC descriptions. It can clear codes after a repair and report I/M readiness so you can confirm monitors are set for an emissions inspection.
The AL519 is compatible with standard OBDII-compliant vehicles from 1996 onward in US-market cars. Note there are security limitations: certain FCA vehicles (post-2017) and cars with Secure Gateway (SGW) are not accessible for module-level functions. Language updates are possible via a Windows PC using Autel’s MaxiLinkII updater and the official AL519 update pack.
The AL519 excels as a fast, no-frills OBD2 scanner for reading codes, viewing live data, and validating readiness for inspections. It is not designed for comprehensive system-level diagnostics like advanced bi-directional tests or full ECU adaptations — those require professional-tier Autel tools. For any compatibility doubts, contact the seller before purchase to confirm support for specific models.
Who this tool is for: The Autel AL519 suits car owners who want a reliable, portable OBD2 reader to decode check-engine lights, inspect live engine data, and check emissions readiness without paying for shop diagnostics. If you need full-system service, bi-directional controls, or manufacturer-level programming, consider upgrading to a professional Autel model.
Q: Is the AL519 compatible with my 2018 Jeep?
A: Many 2018 Jeeps use FCA Secure Gateway and may block AL519 access to OBDII modules. Contact the seller with your VIN to confirm compatibility before purchase.
Q: Can I update AL519 language or functions?
A: Language packs can be updated via a Windows PC using MaxiLinkII and Autel’s AL519 update files; the unit does not support function upgrades.
