Designed as an upgrade from basic code readers, the 2026 Autel ML629 combines multi-system fault retrieval with standard OBDII emission checks and a built-in DTC library. It targets DIYers and home mechanics who want faster troubleshooting, I/M readiness checks for smog inspections, and the ability to store, playback or print diagnostic data via a Windows PC. Functions vary by vehicle make, model and year, so confirming compatibility before purchase is recommended.
The ML629 can access four major vehicle systems — Engine (ECM), Transmission (TCM), ABS and SRS — and read/erase their fault codes where that capability is supported. Full read/erase availability depends on the vehicle and model year; live system data beyond OBDII may be limited on some cars.
This scanner runs all 10 OBDII test modes and reports I/M Readiness status so you can verify monitors required for smog checks (misfire, catalyst, O2 sensors, EVAP, etc.). By identifying which monitors are incomplete, you can address the issues before going to a smog station and avoid failing an inspection.
The ML629 displays live OBDII sensor data in both text and graph views so you can watch parameters change in real time. It includes a built-in DTC library of over 10,000 definitions for on-device code explanations and allows recording for playback or printing from a Windows computer.
ML629 covers OBDII functions for US cars (post-1996), many EU and Asian models, and multi-system diagnostics for numerous brands from roughly 2002–2017. Because function availability is vehicle-specific, Autel recommends providing your VIN or car details to confirm compatibility before ordering.
Who is this for: The Autel ML629 is aimed at home mechanics, independent technicians and car owners who want more than a basic code reader: multi-system diagnostics, I/M readiness checks for smog preparation, live OBDII data graphing, and simple data export for record-keeping. If you need advanced manufacturer-level functions for every system, confirm vehicle compatibility first by sending the car model, year and VIN to Autel support.
Q: Does the ML629 perform full OBDII tests and readiness checks?
A: Yes. It runs all 10 OBDII modes, shows I/M readiness, freeze frame, VIN and live data to help prepare for smog tests.
Q: Can ML629 read and clear ABS and SRS codes on my vehicle?
A: Often yes for supported makes/years. System availability is vehicle-specific—send your VIN to Autel to confirm before purchase.
