AUTOOL's EPB Emergency Release Tool (BT10) is a handheld electronic parking brake drive device designed to safely release and apply electronic parking brakes for diagnostics, pad and rotor service, and roadside rescue.
The BT10 combines a bidirectional motor drive with protective circuitry to let technicians and roadside responders control an electronic parking brake (EPB) actuator without driving the vehicle. It plugs into a vehicle's external EPB drive port and uses a 12V battery source to rotate the actuator forward or reverse, avoiding forced mechanical removal that can cause caliper or cable damage. Built-in safety features and a simple joystick interface make it suitable for busy workshops and emergency situations.
Operation uses a two-mode joystick that controls motor direction and a core processor to manage rotation. One mode commands the drive to retract (release) the brake; the other applies the brake. Audible motor stop signals help the operator know when to release the switch, reducing the risk of overrun.
The BT10 includes several electrical protections to prevent damage from incorrect connections or overload. Reverse polarity protection guards against swapped clamps and a fast-acting 5A fuse interrupts fault currents. A clear power indicator shows when the unit is energized so users can confirm correct hookup before operating the motor.
Technicians use the BT10 for routine service and unexpected EPB faults. It enables safe caliper retraction for pad and rotor replacement, moves vehicles with locked brakes during recovery, and helps diagnose actuator or circuit issues without damaging components. The tool supports most 12V systems found in passenger cars.
Who should consider the AUTOOL BT10? This tool is intended for professional mechanics, mobile technicians, tow operators and experienced DIYers who encounter electronic parking brake systems. It’s particularly useful where accessing the vehicle’s EPB drive port is possible and when preventing mechanical damage from improvised release methods is a priority. The BT10 is sold with a three-year warranty and lifetime technical support for quality issues, making it a practical investment for regular EPB service tasks.
Q: Can the BT10 damage my vehicle if connected wrong?
A: The BT10 has reverse polarity protection and a 5A fuse to reduce risk, but always double-check clamp polarity and connections before use.
Q: What power source does the BT10 require?
A: Use a 12V battery; the device supports 10–14V DC systems common in passenger vehicles.
