Design Engineering Heat Sheath™ Aluminized Sleeving is a heavy-duty, slip-on thermal shield that reflects radiant heat and protects hoses, wires, and fluid lines from abrasion, oil, and chemicals.
Built for automotive and industrial environments where high temperatures and rough conditions shorten the life of hoses and wiring, this sleeving combines a 19 oz high-temperature fiberglass core with a tough aluminized outer layer. The construction reflects radiant heat up to 2000°F while tolerating direct contact temperatures up to 500°F, and aramid-reinforced stitching improves resistance to chafing and wear. The product is straightforward to fit over existing lines and is made in the USA. Note: do not install directly on exhaust components.
The aluminized outer surface reflects radiant heat away from covered components, while the dense fiberglass insulation slows conductive heat transfer. That combination keeps the line surface noticeably cooler under heat exposure without adding excessive bulk.
Yes—Heat Sheath is engineered to resist mechanical wear and common automotive fluids. The aramid fiber-reinforced thread and aluminum outer film protect lines from rubbing, road debris, oil, fuel, and grease that otherwise cause premature failure.
Installation is simple: disconnect the hose or line if necessary, cut the sleeving to length, slide it over the component, and reattach—no special tools required. The listed product is 3/4" I.D. and shipped in a 3-foot length, suitable for many plumbing, vacuum, fuel, and wiring applications.
Heat Sheath is designed for demanding engine bay and industrial environments, offering flame-retardant construction and resistance to common contaminants. However, it is not meant to be mounted directly against exhaust manifolds, turbo housings, or other components intended to be in continuous direct contact at extremely high temperatures.
Who is this for: technicians, fabricators, tuners, restoration shops, and DIY mechanics who need a reliable, easy-to-install thermal barrier for hoses, fuel and brake lines, and wiring harnesses. If you service vehicles or equipment exposed to radiant heat, oil, and road debris and want a durable protective sleeve that balances thermal performance and abrasion resistance, Design Engineering Heat Sheath™ is built for those applications.
Q: Can I wrap Heat Sheath directly on exhaust manifold?
A: No. Do not apply Heat Sheath directly to exhaust components; it resists direct heat to 500°F but is not intended for continuous exhaust contact.
Q: How do I install the sleeving on an existing hose?
A: Disconnect or loosen the line as needed, cut the sleeving to length, slip it over the hose, then reinstall the line securely.
