The Dunkive Complete Valve Grinding Kit is a do-it-yourself set that resurfaces and reseals engine valves using 120 and 220 grit compounds, two lapping sticks with multiple suction cups, and protective gloves.
When valves wear or accumulate carbon, they can fail to make a tight seal against their seats, causing reduced compression, lost power and poor fuel economy. This all-in-one kit supplies coarse and fine abrasive pastes plus two manual lapping sticks and four suction cup sizes so you can restore valve-to-seat contact across cars, motorcycles, ATVs, lawn mowers and other small engines without sending heads to a machine shop.
Start with the coarser 120 grit compound to cut through carbon, pitting and burnt material on the valve face and seat. The abrasive paste, paired with a firm suction cup and steady rotational motion, levels irregularities so the valve can later seal correctly.
After coarse grinding, use the 220 grit (30 g) compound to smooth and polish the mating surfaces. The finer grit removes micro-scratches left by the coarse paste, improving seat contact and helping re-establish compression and reliable combustion.
The kit bundles everything required for basic valve reseating jobs: two dual-ended lapping sticks, coarse and fine compounds, multiple suction cup sizes and a pair of nitrile gloves. The variety of suction cups and two handles lets you match the tool to passenger car, motorcycle or small-engine valve geometries for safe, versatile use.
If a suction cup spins freely on the handle or loses grip on the valve, a simple moisture trick stabilizes it. Wet the inside of the suction cup slightly before seating it on the valve face to increase friction and prevent unwanted rotation while lapping.
Who this kit is for: The Dunkive Complete Valve Grinding Kit is aimed at DIY mechanics, hobbyists and professional technicians who want a cost-effective way to restore valve sealing without specialized machining. It’s practical for routine valve maintenance, small engine tune-ups and light engine rebuilds where precise, manual reseating can return lost compression and improve drivability. If you need to remove heavy damage beyond the reach of hand lapping, consult a machine shop, but for most sealing and finishing jobs this kit provides the abrasives, tools and accessories needed to do the job at home or in a compact workshop.
Q: Can I use this kit on motorcycle valves?
A: Yes. The two lapping sticks and multiple suction cup sizes are compatible with most motorcycle valve diameters.
Q: How do I know when the valve is properly seated?
A: You should see a continuous contact ring on the valve face; use light strokes with 220 grit to confirm a smooth, even seating.
