Filmap TPU Paint Protection Film PPF Clear Gloss 1ft x 5ft — 8mil Hydrophobic Self-Healing

Filmap hydrophobic TPU paint protection film is a 1ft x 5ft glossy, self-healing clear wrap that shields vehicle paint from chips, scratches and environmental wear while keeping a near-invisible, high-gloss finish.

This clear polyurethane paint protection film (PPF) is designed for do-it-yourself and professional detailers who want durable, transparent coverage over high-impact areas. At 8 mil thickness, the film balances toughness and flexibility so it conforms to curves, edges and contours while maintaining optical clarity. An engineered UV-resistant construction reduces yellowing, and a hydrophobic surface sheds water and road grime for easier cleaning and a brighter appearance.

How does this PPF protect my car’s paint?

The film provides a sacrificial barrier that absorbs damage from small debris, gravel, and everyday abrasions, preventing them from reaching the OEM paint layer. Because it’s thicker than vinyl wraps and made from TPU, it resists tears and scuffs while preserving the original finish beneath.

• 8-mil TPU thickness offers impact resistance without bulk.
• Hydrophobic topcoat repels water, salt, and light contaminants.
• UV-resistant formulation reduces yellowing over time.
• Transparent gloss preserves factory color and depth.

What does self-healing mean and how do I activate it?

Self-healing refers to the film’s ability to recover from minor surface scratches and swirl marks when exposed to heat. Light abrasions will gradually disappear as heat relaxes the polymer and allows the surface to reflow, restoring a smooth, glossy look.

• Minor scratches fade with exposure to sunlight or a warm air source.
• Use a heat gun or warm water for faster regeneration when needed.
• Avoid extreme heat sources that could over-stress the film.

Where should I apply this 1ft x 5ft roll on my vehicle?

This size is well suited to targeted coverage of high-risk zones: bumper sections, fender pockets, mirror caps, hood leading edges, and door handles. Cut patterns to match complex shapes and overlap seams minimally for discreet protection.

• Ideal for bumpers, hood edges, mirrors and fender tips.
• Trim and heat to fit contours; stretch carefully on tight curves.
• Multiple rolls can be combined for larger panels or full-vehicle jobs.

How do I install the Filmap PPF for a professional look?

Installation follows standard PPF technique: fully clean and decontaminate the paint, apply a slip solution to aid positioning, squeegee out bubbles and trim excess. Patience and proper tools deliver a near-seamless finish; professionals will achieve the cleanest results, but experienced DIYers can install with attention to prep and technique.

• Thoroughly wash and decontaminate the surface first.
• Use a slip solution for alignment and a finishing squeegee to remove bubbles.
• Trim with a sharp blade and apply heat for tight curves and edges.

Who is this for: Filmap’s glossy TPU PPF is aimed at car owners, enthusiasts, and detail shops who want targeted, long-lasting protection while keeping paint appearance original. It suits anyone protecting frequently impacted zones or preserving resale value without changing the vehicle’s look. Choose this 1ft x 5ft roll when you want a discreet, hydrophobic, self-restoring layer that’s workable by trained installers and careful DIYers alike.
