The Lisle 37140 disconnect pliers are a low-profile, 45° angled hand tool built to release fuel, EVAP and DEF quick-connect fittings in confined locations.
Designed for mechanics and DIYers who work around tight fuel-tank openings and cramped engine bays, these pliers let you depress the release tabs on many push-to-connect fittings where straight tools can't reach. The 45° bend and slim jaws make it easier to access connectors between the top of a fuel tank and vehicle sheetmetal, and the tool is compatible with a variety of two-tab Delphi connectors, some import designs, and certain electrical plugs.
The angled head lets you approach fittings from the side or beneath where vertical tools are blocked by body panels or fuel tank clearance. Its slim profile reduces the chance of deformation on plastic fittings while giving you the leverage to disengage the locking tabs.
They are made primarily for fuel line, EVAP and DEF quick-connect fittings that require tab depression to release—especially Delphi two-tab styles. The tool also functions on some import vehicle fittings and select electrical connectors that use similar locking tabs.
Squeeze the handles gently to depress the tabs while pulling the line straight back—avoid twisting or using excessive force. Position the angled jaws so they apply even pressure to both release tabs when present, and inspect the fitting for clips or secondary locks before attempting removal.
Yes — while optimized for fuel, EVAP and DEF quick-connects, the low-profile design is useful on many tight-access clips and some electrical connectors that require tab depression. Keep in mind extreme force or improper angle may still damage delicate plastics.
Who is this for: The Lisle 37140 is aimed at professional technicians and home mechanics who frequently service fuel systems or work in cramped areas where straight disconnect tools can’t reach. If you need a compact, angled disconnect tool that minimizes stress on plastic fittings and improves access between a fuel tank and vehicle body, this plier is a practical addition to your kit.
Q: Will these pliers work on Delphi two-tab connectors?
A: Yes, the Lisle 37140 is designed to release many Delphi two-tab fuel connectors reliably.
Q: Can I use this tool on electrical connectors?
A: It can be used on some electrical plugs with similar tab releases, but avoid forcing delicate plastics.
