Lisle 15000 Engine Cylinder Hone is a precision micrometer-fed cylinder honing tool designed to quickly and accurately size and finish engine bores from 3" to 4¼" using clip-on stones and a fast-action rack-and-pinion expansion.
Whether restoring a small-block engine, refreshing a rebuilt cylinder, or sizing bores during a machine shop job, the Lisle 15000 provides controlled expansion, quick stone exchange, and features that protect surrounding engine parts. It combines a micrometer head for repeatable feed control with a universal joint action that reaches the cylinder backside, while the bottom guard reduces the risk of abrasive contact with the crankshaft.
The built-in micrometer head lets you dial in precise cross-feed increments so you can reproduce the same expansion across multiple cylinders without guesswork. This is especially useful when targeting specific bore taper or when matching factory specifications.
The standard kit covers most small- and medium-displacement applications with a 3" to 4¼" working range using the supplied rack. For larger bores or deeper jobs, optional rack and stone sets expand the capacity up to 2¾"–10¼".
Clip-on stones and wipers swap in seconds so you can change grit quickly without disassembling the tool. The bottom guard plate is a physical barrier to help keep stones from striking the crankshaft, and the universal joint allows correct contact when grinding the cylinder's rear area.
The Lisle 15000 is designed for use with a heavy-duty 1/2" drill that supplies reliable rotational speed and torque. The included accessories—stones, cleaning brush and dressing paddle—help finish and prepare the bore without needing extra purchases for typical jobs.
Who this tool is for: The Lisle 15000 is tailored for professional mechanics, restoration enthusiasts, and experienced DIYers who need a reliable honing tool for small- to medium-size engine cylinders. It suits anyone who wants precise, repeatable bore sizing and an efficient workflow—especially shops or individuals performing multiple cylinders where accuracy and quick stone changes save time. This hone is not a replacement for specialized machine shop boring equipment when extreme tolerance control or surface profiling is required, but it provides a robust, portable solution for in-garage rebuilds, repairs, and light machining tasks.
Q: What cylinder sizes does the Lisle 15000 cover out of the box?
A: The standard kit hones cylinders from 3" to 4¼" using the included rack and stones.
Q: Can I change stone grit quickly during a job?
A: Yes—clip-on stones and wipers swap in seconds so you can change grits without tool disassembly.
