The Lisle 22800 Wheel Stud Installer is a compact hand tool that pulls new wheel studs into hubs quickly and reliably using a lug nut and wrench or impact.
Replacing a worn or broken wheel stud can be awkward without the right tool; the Lisle 22800 simplifies the job by letting you seat new studs straight into the hub bore using a standard ratchet or impact wrench. Built to fit most domestic and import passenger cars and light trucks, this installer saves time and reduces the risk of cross-threading or incorrect stud seating. It’s a single-purpose, mechanical device — straightforward to operate and easy to keep in your toolbox.
Set the tool body over the stud shaft, then run a lug nut down against the installer. As you tighten the lug nut with a ratchet or impact wrench, the tool pulls the stud into the hub until it seats fully. The design pulls the stud straight and applies steady, controlled force to avoid damage to threads or hub faces.
The 22800 is compatible with most automotive and light-duty truck wheel studs across import and domestic makes. It’s intended for common stud sizes used in passenger vehicles and light trucks, not heavy commercial axles or specialty fasteners. Confirm stud diameter and hub bore access before starting to ensure fit and clearance.
You’ll need a compatible lug nut, a ratchet or impact wrench, and basic wheel removal tools (jack, stands, torque wrench). Wear eye protection and ensure the vehicle is properly supported on stands; never rely on a jack alone. Because the tool’s bearing will wear over time, inspect it regularly for smooth operation and replace the tool when performance degrades.
Who is this for: The Lisle 22800 is aimed at home mechanics, mobile technicians, and small shop owners who perform wheel-stud replacements on cars and light trucks and want a fast, reliable method to seat new studs without expensive presses. It’s ideal for anyone doing routine brake, hub, or wheel-end work who needs a portable solution that works with common shop tools.
Product notes: The tool is covered by U.S. Patent 7,421,769. The bearing inside the unit is a wear item and is not covered under warranty, so expect gradual wear with regular use. Always follow vehicle manufacturer recommendations for stud torque and replacement procedures.
Q: Can I use the Lisle 22800 with an impact wrench?
A: Yes. The tool is designed to be used with a ratchet or impact wrench to pull studs into place.
Q: Is the internal bearing covered by warranty?
A: No. The bearing is a wear item and is not covered under the warranty.
