The lydesor KKL 409 FiatEcuScan OBD2 diagnostic cable is a USB interface with an authentic FTDI FT232RL chip that lets you read and clear ECU, ABS, airbag and ESP fault codes on many European cars from 1996 onward.
This compact KKL 409.1 adapter pairs with FiatEcuScan and VAG-COM style software to provide wired diagnostics for older V-vv, Au-di, Se-at, Sk-oda, Fi-at, Al-fa Romeo and Lan-cia vehicles. It connects to a Windows PC by USB and uses a four-position switch to select Engine, Airbag, ABS or ESP modules so you can quickly access specific systems without changing cables. The cable ships with diagnostic software on CD and includes troubleshooting guidance if the disc is damaged or your computer lacks a CD drive.
The cable plugs into a vehicle's OBD2 port and the other end into a PC's USB port using a built-in FTDI FT232RL chipset for stable communications. A 4-way hardware switch selects which ECU protocol to address, avoiding software reconfiguration each time.
This adapter is intended for many European marques produced from about 1996 and works with FiatEcuScan and VAG-COM style applications. It is aimed at legacy systems—official compatibility recommends Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 environments.
Using the switch positions and compatible software, you can read and clear fault codes across major control units. The cable provides basic fault-finding and resets for engine management, airbags, ABS, and ESP systems commonly required during service or DIY troubleshooting.
The package normally includes a software CD, but modern PCs may lack an optical drive. If the disc arrives damaged or you cannot use a CD, contact the seller for a download link. Drivers for the FTDI chip need to be installed on the recommended Windows versions to ensure proper function.
Who is this for? The lydesor KKL 409 FiatEcuScan OBD2 adapter is aimed at home mechanics, independent workshops and enthusiasts who service older European vehicles and need a straightforward, wired diagnostic interface. It is particularly useful for users who work within legacy Windows environments, want reliable FTDI-based communications, and prefer a single cable that targets multiple control units via a hardware switch. If you require coverage for the latest cars, modern CAN-only systems, or support for Windows 8/10, consider a newer multi-protocol interface instead.
Q: Does this cable work with Windows 10?
A: No. The KKL 409.1 is recommended for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and does not support Windows 8 or 10.
Q: What if the included software CD is damaged?
A: Contact the seller for a MEGA download link; they will provide the software if the CD is unreadable.
