The NTK ID0213 Ignition Knock Sensor detects engine detonation and sends precise vibration signals to the ECM so ignition timing can be adjusted to protect the engine.
This purpose-built knock sensor mounts to the engine block and converts mechanical vibrations into an electrical voltage that the vehicle’s engine control module interprets. When the ECM senses abnormal combustion (knock), it retards timing to reduce stress on pistons and bearings. The NTK ID0213 is designed as a vehicle-specific replacement using piezo ceramic technology, a sealed housing and a shielded harness to match original equipment performance.
The sensor contains a piezoelectric crystal that produces a changing voltage in response to engine vibrations. The ECM reads that voltage pattern and recognizes the distinctive frequency and amplitude associated with detonation. Because the output varies with vibration intensity, the ECM can fine-tune timing adjustments rather than applying a blanket correction.
Failing knock sensors typically trigger a check engine light and can cause drivability issues like hesitation, reduced fuel economy, or trouble passing emissions tests. Symptoms vary by vehicle and engine condition, but any persistent detonation-related fault code or irregular engine behavior warrants inspection. Replacing a worn sensor restores accurate knock detection for proper engine management.
The ID0213 uses advanced piezo ceramic technology inside a moisture-sealed housing to extend life in harsh engine environments. A shielded harness minimizes electrical interference so the ECM receives clean signals. Wire gauge and harness length match original equipment so installation and signal integrity are preserved.
Installation generally involves mounting the sensor to the engine block at the factory location and reconnecting the harness; follow vehicle-specific torque values and routing to avoid noise. Because the ID0213 is a direct-fit, vehicle-specific part, it replaces the original without modifications in most cases. After installation, clear fault codes and verify the ECM no longer detects knock-related faults.
Who is this for: The NTK ID0213 Ignition Knock Sensor is intended for technicians and vehicle owners who need a reliable, OE-matching replacement sensor for engines that detect detonation. It’s suitable for anyone experiencing knock-related codes, degraded fuel economy, or faulty emissions readings who wants a sealed, durable sensor with vehicle-specific fitment and OEM-equivalent wiring.
Q: Will replacing the knock sensor stop the check engine light?
A: Replacing a faulty knock sensor often clears knock-related codes, but you should clear codes after installation and confirm no other faults remain.
Q: Is the NTK ID0213 a direct replacement for the factory sensor?
A: Yes—the ID0213 is vehicle-specific with matching harness length and wire gauge for a direct-fit replacement in most applications.
