The Orion Motor Tech Harmonic Balancer Puller Kit is a professional 3-jaw puller set engineered to remove pressed-on harmonic dampers and balancers quickly and without radiator disassembly.
When you need to extract a stubborn harmonic balancer, having the correct puller and forcing rods saves time and prevents damage. This Orion Motor Tech kit includes a centered push bolt, a 3-jaw puller for secure grip, four forcing rods in graduated lengths, and a rugged storage case. All components are manufactured from AISI 1045 medium carbon steel with a cataphoretic electro-coating for improved corrosion resistance, making the kit suitable for both shop and mobile use.
The kit's single-center retainer bolt design allows you to pull pressed-on balancers without removing nearby components like the radiator on most vehicles. The centered 19 mm hex push bolt and 3/8" square drive acceptance let you use common impact or breaker tools to drive the puller, reducing removal time.
The Orion set is built for broad compatibility across many domestic and import engines. It fits a long list of model years and engine families—especially applications with a pressed-on harmonic balancer and a single-center retaining bolt—making it a versatile addition to general repair kits.
Orion Motor Tech selected structural-grade AISI 1045 medium carbon steel for each component to withstand high pulling forces. The cataphoretic electro-coating adds a protective finish to resist corrosion, while a blow-molded case protects tools and keeps everything organized between jobs.
Set the jaws evenly around the balancer lip and thread the center push bolt to contact the crank snout. Select the forcing rod length that reaches without bottoming out, then tighten the bolt gradually to pull the damper straight off the crank. Use steady, controlled force and common mechanic tools to avoid sudden release.
Who this kit is for: The Orion Motor Tech Harmonic Balancer Puller Kit is aimed at professional mechanics, DIY enthusiasts, and mobile technicians who frequently service engine front-end components. If you work on domestic and many import engines with pressed-on dampers and need a durable, compact solution to remove harmonic balancers without disassembling surrounding parts, this kit delivers the lengths, strength, and organization to get the job done reliably.
Q: Does this kit fit dampers with bolt-on hubs?
A: No. This Orion kit is designed for pressed-on dampers with a single center retainer bolt, not for multi-bolt hub-style pulleys.
Q: Are replacement forcing rods available?
A: Individual forcing rods may be available through Orion Motor Tech parts or aftermarket suppliers; check compatibility with AISI 1045 specifications.
