Revolution Electronics Electric Fuel Pump Controller primes an electric fuel pump for three seconds at key-on and then lets it run only while the engine is producing a tach signal, shutting the pump off immediately if the engine stops.
When converting a classic car or truck from a mechanical to an electric fuel pump, you need a compact, reliable module that prevents the pump from running when the engine isn’t turning. This controller supplies a brief prime to fill carburetor bowls at key-on, then monitors the engine tach to allow operation only while the engine is running. It’s a small, fully potted 12V unit made in the USA that includes wiring and a self-resetting fuse for straightforward installations.
The module constantly watches for a tachometer signal and instantly cuts power to the pump if that signal disappears, preventing fuel from being pumped when the engine stalls. It’s compatible with common tach signals and also offers a safe fallback for vehicles without a dedicated tach input.
Yes — on initial key-on the controller energizes the pump for three seconds to prime the fuel lines and top off carburetor bowls. That short burst reduces cranking time and helps the engine start quicker without running the pump continuously before ignition.
The controller arrives ready to wire in with 15 feet of 16 AWG cable and mounting hardware, plus an internal 7 amp self-resetting fuse that protects the unit. For higher-draw pumps you can wire the unit to control an external relay so the controller handles switching logic while the relay carries the heavier current.
The unit is designed for 12V systems and works with both stock inductive tach triggers and aftermarket square-wave signals. If a vehicle lacks a tach output, connecting to the negative side of the ignition coil provides the equivalent trigger signal.
Who is this for? If you’re restoring or upgrading a classic vehicle and switching from a mechanical to an electric fuel pump, this controller gives a simple, safe way to add pump priming and engine-run-only protection without major wiring complexity. It’s aimed at DIY restorers, professional shops, and anyone who wants a tidy, reliable solution to prevent continuous fuel flow when the engine is not running.
Q: Will this controller work with my aftermarket ignition module?
A: Yes. It accepts square-wave tach signals used by many aftermarket ignition modules; alternatively use coil negative if needed.
Q: Can it handle high-current fuel pumps?
A: The unit includes a 7A internal fuse; use an external relay controlled by the module for pumps that draw more current.
