The Rite in the Rain Monsoon Hand Desk (No. M958) is a compact, weatherproof hand-held desk that gives you a rigid, water-resistant writing surface and organized storage for A5 or side-spiral notebooks in the field.

Designed to bring the rugged convenience of a full-sized field desk into a compact package, this Monsoon Hand Desk fits glove boxes, center consoles, and backpacks while still offering pockets, card slots, and elastic retention for pens and small tools. Built from durable TPU with a powder-coated clip and a webbed carrying handle, it protects your notes and gear when conditions turn wet or rough. Whether you’re taking quick notes outdoors, logging data on a site visit, or keeping a small planner dry, this hand desk helps you stay organized and productive without bulky gear.

How does the Monsoon Hand Desk keep notes dry and secure?

The hand desk uses water-resistant TPU material and a robust powder-coated clip to shield paper and supplies from moisture and light precipitation. Internal pockets and elastic bands hold notebooks and instruments in place, minimizing flyaway or lost items while you work.

• TPU shell resists water, dirt, and abrasion for reliable protection.
• Powder-coated clip secures pages against wind and rain.
• Interior elastic bands and pockets prevent tools and cards from shifting.
• Hang-loop on the back allows elevated, drier storage when stationary.

Will it fit my notebook or folded sheets in the field?

The interior is sized for side-spiral and A5-format notebooks and will also accept folded sheets or a compact 6-ring field binder. Its dimensions (6.75" x 9.5") strike a balance between portable form factor and enough writing surface for practical field use.

• Designed for A5 and side-spiral notebooks without trimming or folding.
• Accommodates a Rite in the Rain 6 Ring Field Binder as a compact option.
• Room for folded forms or map excerpts when full-size sheets aren’t needed.
• Interior card slots keep identification and small-format documents accessible.

How easy is it to carry and handle during active work?

The Monsoon Hand Desk includes a webbed carrying handle and adjustable side-grip to keep it comfortable while moving. A rear hang-loop lets you suspend it on a hook or peg for quick access, and an exterior elastic pen loop keeps a writing instrument secure and ready.

• Webbed handle for grab-and-go mobility in vehicles or on foot.
• Adjustable grip improves control when writing one-handed or on the move.
• Exterior pen-loop stores a pencil or pen for immediate use.
• Rear hang-loop allows off-ground storage to stay dryer and more visible.

What materials and features make it suitable for tough conditions?

Constructed from durable TPU, the Monsoon Hand Desk resists tearing and stands up to repeated field use. The powder-coated clip and reinforced stitching combine to deliver a long-lived tool that keeps organizational features intact despite exposure to weather and rough handling.

• TPU exterior for water resistance and abrasion durability.
• Reinforced storage pockets and elastic bands for dependable organization.
• Powder-coated clip withstands corrosion and holds papers firmly.
• Compact footprint designed for frequent transport and easy storage.

Who is this for? The Rite in the Rain Monsoon Hand Desk is made for field technicians, surveyors, first responders, outdoor educators, and anyone who needs a smaller, organized, weatherproof writing surface. If you carry side-spiral or A5 notebooks and want to protect notes, cards, and pens without the bulk of a full field desk, this compact TPU hand desk provides a practical, durable solution for everyday fieldwork and travel.
