RoadPro 7.5" 12V Metal Dash Fan RP-1179 – Chrome, Two-Speed, Swivel Mount

The RoadPro RP-1179 is a 7.5-inch, all-metal 12V dash fan with two-speed control, a 10-foot power lead, and a swivel mount for targeted airflow inside trucks and cars.

When cabin airflow is limited or vehicle air conditioning needs a boost, a compact, durable fan can make drives more comfortable and reduce window fogging. The RP-1179 is built with a chrome-finish metal housing and blades, designed to be mounted on the dash (top or side) and powered from any standard 12V outlet. Its simple two-speed control and long cord simplify installation and allow you to position fresh air exactly where you need it.

How does the RoadPro RP-1179 improve cabin airflow?

The fan concentrates air in a small footprint so you can direct ventilation to the driver or passenger area. Its metal blades move a steady stream of air without relying on the vehicle’s HVAC system, which is useful when idling or when you want extra circulation.

• 7.5-inch diameter blades for focused air movement
• All-metal construction maintains momentum and durability
• Swivel-ball base lets you aim the airflow precisely

Is installation difficult and what mounting options are available?

Installation is straightforward and requires only the included hardware and a 12V power outlet. The RP-1179 mounts permanently to a dash surface—either the top or a side panel—so once installed it stays secure through daily driving or highway vibration.

• Includes all mounting screws and brackets for top/side dash placement
• Swivel-ball base for angle adjustments after mounting
• 10-foot cord reaches most power ports without extensions

What power and control features does this fan offer?

The unit runs on standard vehicle 12V DC power and offers two speeds—high and low—to match comfort needs and conserve power. The long cord helps you choose the best power port while keeping the cable tidy inside the cabin.

• Plugs into any 12V accessory/socket
• Two-speed switch for low or high airflow settings
• Chrome finish resists visible wear for a cleaner interior look

How durable is the RP-1179 for regular vehicle use?

Constructed entirely of metal, the fan is built for rugged use in trucks and other vehicles where plastic fans might crack or wear quickly. The metal housing and blades also help preserve performance over time, especially under frequent use.

• 100% metal construction for impact and vibration resistance
• Chrome finish for corrosion resistance and easy cleaning
• Sturdy mount prevents loosening from road vibrations

Who is this for: The RoadPro RP-1179 is aimed at drivers who need reliable supplemental ventilation—truckers, delivery drivers, and owners of older vehicles with limited HVAC output. It’s also a good choice for anyone who wants a durable, permanently mounted dash fan that’s easy to aim, simple to install, and powered directly from a 12V outlet. If you want targeted air movement, long power cord flexibility, and a metal-built fan that stands up to daily use, this model delivers a practical, no-frills solution.
