SPTA 5" 100% wool buffing pads are a three-piece set of coarse, medium and light cutting wool discs designed for aggressive paint correction and fast material removal on automotive and wood surfaces.
These 125mm wool polishing pads attach with hook-and-loop backing to most rotary and dual-action polishers and pair with cutting compounds and polishes to remove oxidation, sanding marks and more. Made from tightly woven natural wool fibers, the pads are reusable after cleaning and engineered to deliver faster cutting action than foam or blended pads. The kit includes one heavy-cut (purple), one medium-cut (beige) and one light-cut (orange) pad so you can sequence from aggressive correction to lighter refining before finishing with a foam pad.
Wool fibers are denser and more abrasive than foam, which helps these pads remove defects faster with fewer passes. The set is ideal for eliminating oxidation, orange peel and deeper sanding scratches when used with an appropriate compound. Because wool cuts more aggressively, technicians typically follow with a softer foam pad and finishing polish to refine the surface.
The pads are compatible with the majority of pneumatic and electric polishers that accept 5" (125mm) hook-and-loop discs. They perform best when paired with a dedicated cutting compound for initial defect removal, then transitioned to finer pads and polishes. Their construction minimizes excessive heat build-up compared with thin or loose-woven alternatives.
Proper cleaning extends pad life and keeps cutting performance consistent. After each use, remove compound residue and work product from the wool by rinsing or using a pad brush; for deeper cleaning, wash with warm water and mild detergent, then air dry. Avoid high heat when drying to preserve fiber integrity.
These wool pads excel at aggressive correction tasks on automotive clear coats, older lacquer finishes and wood surfaces that require fast material removal. They are engineered to tackle heavy oxidation, deeper scratches and sanding marks, making them the right starting point in a multi-step polishing process. For delicate or soft finishes, begin with the light-cut pad and test in an inconspicuous area.
Who is this for: This 3-piece SPTA wool pad set is aimed at detailers, body shops and enthusiastic DIYers who need faster cutting performance than foam pads provide. If you perform regular paint correction, restoration work or refinishing projects and use a 5" hook-and-loop polisher, these wool pads give a cost-effective, reusable option for aggressive defect removal before finishing with finer pads and polishes.
Q: Are these wool pads safe on clear coat finishes?
A: Yes—when used correctly they remove defects on clear coats, but start with the light pad and test a small area to avoid overcutting.
Q: How do I clean SPTA wool polishing pads?
A: Brush out residue after use, then hand-wash or machine-wash gently with mild detergent and air dry completely before storing.
