The TUSK Motorcycle Shock Spring Compressor Set is a durable two-piece tool designed to safely compress and remove coil springs from motorcycle and light-ATV shock absorbers.
Servicing rear shocks often requires holding and compressing heavy coils while you disassemble mounts and retainers. This TUSK kit combines hardened chromoly spring hooks and a corrosion-resistant stainless steel body with a compression bolt sized for either a 17 mm wrench or a 3/8" ratchet. Sold as a matched pair and stored in a fitted steel case, the set is built for repeated garage use and portable enough for trackside adjustments.
The compressor clamps onto the coil with hooked ends while the threaded bolt shortens the effective span of the spring, letting you relieve tension at the shock ends without prying or risky improvisation. Using two compressors—one on each side of the shock—keeps the spring aligned and transfers force evenly so retainers can be removed by hand or with common sockets. The 17 mm/3/8" drive compatibility speeds the process by letting you use either a wrench or a ratchet.
The compressor is designed specifically for typical motorcycle and light-ATV shock springs—measure the coil diameter and spacing to verify fit. It is not intended for heavy-duty UTV, truck, or industrial springs; for those applications use a tool rated for higher loads. If your shock spring has an unusual pitch or very large coils, compare dimensions before use.
TUSK builds the hooks and compression bolt from hardened chromoly steel to resist bending and wear, while the outer body of each compressor is stainless steel for corrosion resistance and longevity. The threaded head is sized for common hand tools so you can control compression speed and feel. The kit’s work-safe procedure—placing compressors opposite each other and alternating turns—reduces the chance of sudden spring release.
Set one compressor on each side of the coil, engage the hooks under adjacent coils, and tighten alternately to compress evenly. Check that both compressors remain seated and the spring line stays centered; never compress from only one side. Follow basic shop safety: wear eye protection, support the shock securely, and inspect the tools and spring before each service.
Who is this for? The TUSK Motorcycle Shock Spring Compressor Set is aimed at motorcycle owners, home mechanics, and light-ATV technicians who perform routine shock service, spring swaps, or aftermarket spring installs. It’s suited to riders who want a portable, robust solution for coil compression without resorting to improvised tools, and to small shops needing a dependable pair of compressors stored in a durable case.
Q: Can I use this compressor on heavy UTV or truck springs?
A: No. This set is intended for motorcycle and light-ATV springs, not heavy UTV or truck springs.
Q: What tools fit the compression bolt?
A: The bolt head accepts a 17 mm wrench or a 3/8" drive ratchet for controlled compression.
